How much am I worth?sigs248

How much am I worth? What is my self-value? I am not talking about how much money we are worth. We will not be comparing ourselves to Bill Gates or Paul Allen in terms of a list of assets, net worth or annual income. Instead we will attempt to take a look at how we value ourselves. Taking a few minutes to complete a questionnaire will hopefully give us insight into where we prioritize our health and fitness needs. I believe that our fitness level can be a barometer in terms of how we really feel about ourselves. I am not saying here that a person who is out of shape feels worthless, although that can sometimes be the case. Often it means that they place a low priority on their own well-being. Often it means this person is VERY focused on the priorities of others such as the needs of their family or children. They may place the needs of others ahead of their own. Of course placing a high value on the needs of our family or loved ones is essential. However, if we do this to the point of our own detriment it is unhealthy, not only for ourselves but also for our family.
If we are not fit there are many fun and exciting activities that we cannot do or avoid because we are physically unable to perform them. In the short run, our family may suffer as well, because there will activities we cannot participate in with them, because we are physically unable to keep up. It may also mean that we subconsciously choose activities for our families that are more sedentary, which lowers their level of fitness as well. In the long run our families can suffer even more as a result of our lack of attention to our own needs when we suffer illness, high medical costs, or early mortality.
In reality, what also may be happening is that we can spend a great deal of money, and not even realize it, on comfort foods, substances, or activities to escape feelings of low self-esteem, emotional pain, depression, grief and loss, guilt or shame and a host of other personal issues.

We first look at how much time and money we currently spend on foods, substances and activities that we know to be unhealthy. We will also take a look at how much we spend or have spent to try and feel better about ourselves. It may also give us a crystal ball and later give us a glimpse of what the actual costs will be if we continue on the path we are on. This survey is for your own benefit. You do not need to show it to anyone else, though you may if you think it could be to your benefit.
